In a hotel on RNT Marg in Indore, Zakir Khan used to sit with friends every evening and play the sitar. Often during the conversation he says – “Something big has to be done.” This passion brought him to the path of stand-up comedy, and then he never looked back. Now on Sunday, Zakir is going to perform at the prestigious Madison Square Garden in New York. He will be the first Indian artist to perform in this prestigious hall with a capacity of 20 thousand spectators. The friends of his Indore are also feeling amazing and proud of this achievement.

There will be a special event at 56 shops on Sunday evening, where Jakir’s fans will write greetings for him on the big canvas. Friends have also installed hoardings in Indore to make this opportunity memorable. Zakir’s father, Ustad Ismail Khan himself is a famous sitar player. He says – “What can be a great pleasure for a father that his son is going to do such a big show on foreign soil.” This achievement is a moment of pride not only for his family but for the whole of Indore.

The people of the city have seen Zakir closely from childhood to struggle and success. He says that from the beginning, it was beginning to feel that Zakir would do something big in life. There was a deep curiosity to know everything in it. He asks- “How does the fan rotate so fast? How does the TV start playing as soon as you press the remote?” Many times he used to come to ask questions even at midnight. There was no atmosphere of English speaking in the family, yet Zakir learned to speak English fluently in the second grade itself.
