The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has decided to increase the fee for board examinations from this year. Now students of tenth and twelfth will have to pay an additional Rs 20 per subject. This change has been implemented after approval from CBSE. This increase will directly affect about ten thousand students of Bhopal, while about one lakh children will have to face it in the whole of Madhya Pradesh.
What will be increased fee
Till now, students had to pay a fee of Rs 300 for any one theory subject, but in the new system, this fee has been reduced to Rs 320. Similarly, if the student takes the exam with five subjects, then he will now have to pay 1600 rupees, whereas earlier this amount was 1500. The fee has also increased in practical examinations for students of class XII. Earlier, where he had to pay 35 rupees per subject, now it will have to pay 45 rupees. That is, along with theory, students will have to pay a little more in practicals.
How much increased
This fee hike is an average of 6.66 percent for CBSE schools running in India. At the same time, the examination fee in CBSE schools running abroad has been increased by 10 percent. CBSE says that this decision has been taken keeping in mind the cost of examination conducting and other technical processes. Significantly, earlier in 2020, registration and examination fee was changed. The fees have been increased after about five years.
Early ID will be compulsory
With the increase in fees, the board has made the APAAR ID mandatory in the examination and enrollment process. Now the ninth and class XI students will be enrolled with this ID and it will also be used in board examinations. In the coming time, this ID will also be recorded on other educational documents of the students. Its main objective is to ensure the uniform identity of every student and add records to the digital platform.
Impact
Experts believe that this increase in examination fee can prove to be an additional burden for students and parents, especially for families whose two or three children are studying in CBSE. However, the board argues that the increase in fees is very modest and has been deemed necessary for the quality of examination and new features of digitization.
