Noida, August 17 (Language) A second -year student of engineering at a private university in Greater Noida committed suicide by hanging himself in his hostel room. The police gave this information on Sunday.
In his suicide note, Shivam Dey did not hold anyone responsible for his death and requested the university to return the fees to his parents.
A police spokesman said that the student also wrote that he was not able to withstand pressure to study.
Shivam, a resident of Purnia in Madhubani district of Bihar, was doing B.Tech in Computer Science from Sharda University in Greater Noida. Police said he found hanging from his hostel room on Friday night.
According to the family, a 24 -year -old student went to college on August 2 after returning from Vaishno Devi’s visit with the family.
The student’s father Karthik Dey claimed that he was normal when he was at home and did not show any kind of stress. Shivam was the only son of his family, his father works in a private company and mother is a housewife.
Knowledge Park Police said that on August 15, a private hospital was reported that a 24 -year -old student was found hanging on the noose in HRM hostel.
He said that the body has been sent for post -mortem and a case has been registered.
A spokesperson of Sharda University said that the university has expressed condolences to the student’s family and confirmed that the fees will be refunded and they will be given all necessary assistance.
He said that after regular examinations of the fourth semester in May 2024, the CGPA could not reach a norm of 5.0 required for promotion in the third year and additional opportunity for special examination was provided in August 2024.
The spokesman said that in the session 2024-25, Shivam did not register himself again nor joined any class.
He said that the student’s mentor maintained contact and tried to involve him in other educational activities like internship.
