Spotify is expanding its social side again, and this time, it’s teaming up with WhatsApp. Android users can now share their favorite songs, playlists, and even podcasts directly to WhatsApp Status – a feature that’s sure to make your daily “now playing” updates a lot more fun. Until now, WhatsApp Status updates supported photos, videos, text, and voice notes. But with the latest update, you can also post Spotify tracks, albums, playlists, artist clips, and audiobooks to your Status – and they’ll stay visible for 24 hours, just like any other update. When you share something from Spotify, your WhatsApp Status will display a visual card showing the cover art, title, and artist. Viewers will also hear a short audio preview of the song or podcast when they open it. If they like what they hear, there’s an “Open in Spotify” button that takes them straight to the app. This new feature works much like Spotify’s sharing options for Instagram Stories and Facebook, both owned by Meta. So, if you’re used to sharing music there, this will feel familiar.
How to Share Spotify Songs on WhatsApp Status
Sharing is simple – all you need is the latest Spotify update on your Android device. Here’s how to do it:
- Open the Spotify app and play the track, album, or playlist you want to share.
- Tap the Share icon (three dots).
- Select WhatsApp from the sharing options.
- Tap on Status and post it like any other update.
Your WhatsApp contacts will now see your shared music, complete with cover art and a short preview clip.
When Will You Get the Feature?
Spotify says the feature is rolling out globally for both Free and Premium Android users. However, it’s a gradual rollout, so if you don’t see it yet, it should appear in your Share menu in the coming weeks.
For now, this integration is available only on Android, but it’s expected to expand to iOS soon.
