Venezuelan Vice President Delsey Rodriguez in a speech on Saturday demanded the US to release President Nicolas Maduro and called him the country’s legitimate president. Maduro and his wife were captured overnight from their residence located in a military base.

In the indictment filed by the US Justice Department, he has been accused of being involved in a conspiracy related to narco-terrorism. Both are being taken to New York to face prosecution and are aboard a US warship.

Maduro the only president of Venezuela

Venezuelan Vice President Delsey Rodriguez said that Nicolas Maduro is the only President of Venezuela. He made this statement when US President Donald Trump said that he was sworn in after Maduro was captured in a military operation in the early morning in the South American country.

Rodriguez spoke on state television from Caracas along with his brother, National Assembly head Jorge Rodriguez, Interior Minister Diosdado Cabello and the foreign and defense ministers. Rodriguez called for peace and unity to defend the country amid Maduro’s kidnapping and said Venezuela would never become a colony of any nation.

America will take care of Venezuela: Trump

US President Donald Trump said on Saturday that America will take over the administration of Venezuela until there is a safe transfer of power. The US captured Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro in a military operation early Saturday and took him out of the country. In this campaign a ruling head of state was removed from office. This action of America is the culmination of months of increasing pressure on the oil-rich Latin American country.

Trump said that America will run the administration of Venezuela until the transfer of power. He claimed that the American presence is already established, although there was no immediate indication that the US was running the country. Trump said, we will hold the reins until we can make a safe, fair and prudent transfer of power.

America threatened

Trump claimed that Secretary of State Marco Rubio has spoken to the Vice President of Venezuela about ‘making that country great again.’ Trump claimed at a press conference in Mar-a-Lago that this highly successful campaign should serve as a warning to anyone who wants to threaten American sovereignty or put American lives in danger.
