Tension between America and Venezuela is once again at its peak. Venezuela has given clear indications that if America takes any kind of military action, it will not back down. According to Reuters report, Venezuela has prepared a plan called Long-Term Resistance. Under this strategy, small military units will be deployed at more than 280 places across the country, which will engage the enemy through activities like guerrilla war i.e. guerrilla attacks and sabotage. Not only this, the second plan is also to spread anarchy, that is, if America attacks, then Venezuelan intelligence agencies and pro-government armed groups will create chaos on the streets of the capital Caracas, so that the country can be made unstable for external forces.

Weak army, old weapons, but courage intact

According to reports, the Venezuelan army is far behind in terms of resources and modern equipment. The soldiers’ salaries are so low that they have to bargain with local farmers even for food. An average soldier gets about $100 a month, while $500 is needed for survival.

The country’s army mostly has Russian weapons. Old tanks, helicopters and Sukhoi fighter planes, which are nothing compared to America’s modern B-2 bombers. But President Maduro claims that he has more than 5,000 Igla-S portable missiles, which have been deployed in every corner of the country.

America’s pressure and Maduro’s fear

US President Donald Trump has already said that the campaign in the Caribbean is not over, the next target may be on the ground. Although he later said that there were no plans to attack Venezuela, Caracas is cautious about the recent increased presence of US forces in the Caribbean region. Maduro believes that America wants to remove him from power. That’s why he has talked about preparing eight million people in the country.
