After this incident, the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) has decided to call an emergency meeting on Monday. This meeting will be held under the chairmanship of Somalia at 10 am (8:30 pm Indian time). Its main agenda is threats to international peace and security. In the UNSC meeting, the steps to be taken in the future will be discussed and measures will be found to ensure international peace and security.

Somalia is currently the rotating President of UNSC. There are a total of 15 member countries in the Security Council, which includes five permanent and ten non-permanent members. Colombia’s President Gustavo Petro first demanded to call an emergency meeting. He said that America’s attack is against the sovereignty of Venezuela and the security of Latin America. Petro also said that the internal dispute of a country should be resolved peacefully by the people there. America’s action is against the principles of UN.

Maduro’s photo surfaced in handcuffs

On Saturday, US President Donald Trump announced that the US has launched a large-scale military attack on Venezuela. In this action, Maduro and his wife were arrested and taken out of the country. Trump on social media maduro Shared a picture in which he was seen on the USS Iyo Jima warship.

After this incident, United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres expressed deep concern. He warned that such action could have serious consequences for the entire region. His spokesman Stephane Dujarric said the incident sets a dangerous precedent and all countries must abide by international law and the UN Charter.

After Maduro’s arrest, political changes also took place rapidly in Venezuela. The country’s Supreme Court ordered Vice President Delsey Rodriguez to assume the duties and powers of the acting President. The court said that Maduro is temporarily unable to fulfill his responsibilities.
