The protests that have been going on in Iran since last week are increasing. The fire of rebellion is burning in the country. Meanwhile, continuous clashes are also taking place between the protesters and the security forces. However, it has now come to light that the death toll in violence related to protests in Iran has increased to at least 35. Activists gave this information on Tuesday and said that there is no sign of the protest stopping.
This figure has been given by the US-based Human Rights Activists News Agency, according to which more than 1,200 people have been detained so far in these protests that have been going on for more than a week.
4 children also died
The agency said that the dead included 29 protesters, 4 children and two members of Iran’s security forces. The demonstrations have spread to more than 250 places in 27 of Iran’s 31 provinces. The organization relies on a network of activists inside Iran for its reporting, and its information has been accurate during previous movements.
Fars news agency, which is considered close to Iran’s paramilitary Revolutionary Guard, said late Monday that about 250 policemen and 45 members of the Guard’s Basij force were injured in the protests.
massive demonstrations taking place on the streets
There is anger among the people due to the economic crisis. People are out on the streets. A lot of sloganeering is being done. Arson is being done on the roads. On one hand, unrest is spreading in the country. On the other hand, Donald Trump’s statement has also come to light.
US can intervene
US President Donald Trump on Friday warned Iran that if Iran violently kills peaceful protesters, America will come to their aid. Although, it is not yet clear how and whether Trump will intervene, but his statement immediately evoked sharp reactions.
Why are protests happening?
The recent demonstrations in Iran have become the largest since 2022. In the year 2022, protests broke out across the country after the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini in police custody. Iran has faced nationwide protests several times in recent years. After the tightening of restrictions on the country and the 12-day war with Israel, the economic condition of the country deteriorated. In December, the Iranian currency Rial fell to 1.4 million against the dollar, immediately after which protests began.
People’s anger has erupted due to rising inflation and economic crisis in the country.
