Dispute continues between India and Bangladesh
Efforts are on to resolve the tension between India and Bangladesh regarding the T20 World Cup 2026. The International Cricket Council (ICC) is trying to improve the situation by mediating between the two boards in this matter. Meanwhile, it is being claimed in the Bangladeshi media that Bangladesh, which had refused to come to India citing security, has refused to play in India despite providing ‘state level security’.
Not even ready to accept BCCI’s offer
According to Bangladeshi media reports, the ICC has decided to discuss this issue in an online meeting with the Bangladesh Cricket Board on Tuesday, January 6. The report states that to address the security concerns of the Bangladeshi board, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has proposed to provide state level security (VVIP security) to the Bangladeshi team for the tournament.
However, the Bangladeshi board has informally told the ICC that despite this assurance, it is not ready to send its team to India for the T20 World Cup. ICC will formally present BCCI’s proposal to the Bangladesh board in the meeting to be held on Tuesday. But as it has already become clear, BCB is going to reject this proposal. In such a situation, whether ICC and BCB find a middle path is going to be very important in this meeting.
Bangladesh on the path of India-Pakistan
It is becoming clear from the stance of the Bangladeshi board that it also wants to follow the India-Pakistan path. India had refused to go to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy last year, due to which the Indian team’s matches were played in UAE. In return, Pakistan had also refused to send its team to India and then in the Women’s World Cup, the Pakistani team’s matches were played in Sri Lanka, whereas in the T20 World Cup to be held this year, the Pakistani team will also play its matches in Sri Lanka. Similarly, Bangladesh is now adamant on organizing its matches outside India.
