A soul-shattering story of human trafficking has come to light from Araria district of Bihar, where a 55-year-old woman was able to meet her son after 13 years. This meeting became witness to pain, struggle and a long fight for justice. Victim woman Zarina Khatoon told that her son Jamshed alias Munna had become a victim of human trafficking racket in the year 2012.
Crying, Zarina Khatoon said- My 12 year old son was taken by some people from the village to Bhadohi in UP. He had said that he would get my son admitted in a madrassa there. At that time my husband was physically and mentally ill and all the responsibilities of the house were on me. Taking advantage of our helplessness, they took my son away.
FIR was lodged as soon as he realized it was a fraud.
Zarina told that shortly after taking her son, she realized that she had been cheated. After this he lodged an FIR against Mohammad Javed, Murshid and Dukhkhan alleging human trafficking. However, after the FIR, his struggle increased further.
evicted from village, house demolished
It is alleged that after registering the FIR, Zarina’s family was thrown out of village Kerala under Baunsi police station area. His house was damaged, forcing him to live on the roadside in Araria town. Despite this he did not give up hope of justice.
Trust placed in judiciary, accused’s bail rejected
Zarina said that despite all the difficulties, she maintained faith in the police and judiciary. The main accused Mohammad Javed was arrested. Three months ago, the ADJ-IV court of Araria rejected his bail plea and directed it to ensure Munna’s safe release.
Jamshed alias Munna sold for 15 lakhs
Zarina Khatoon alleged that her son was sold for around Rs 15 lakh. Munna was taken to Bhadohi, Andaman and Myanmar, where he was treated inhumanely. On 26 December, he was dropped at Araria railway station, but when he reached the village, he found the house empty.

After this, the local police and child welfare committee introduced Munna to his mother on Monday. Munna, who was 12 years old in 2012, is now 25 years old. The family is now hopeful that they will be able to start a new life.
Munna told the horrifying story of imprisonment
Munna told that he was first taken to Bhadohi, then to Andaman and later to Myanmar. There many people were forced to work day and night. Many times even food was not given. Injections were given and if caught resting, they were beaten brutally. He was beaten badly when he tried to escape.
Painful journey from Nagaland to Araria
Munna told that he was later released in Nagaland. From there, traveling through trucks and tankers, it was finally dropped at Araria railway station. From there he reached his village by auto rickshaw.
Police tightened crackdown on smuggling network
Araria SDPO Sushil Kumar said that the victim youth will be presented in the court. By interrogating him, complete information about the human trafficking network will be gathered. All the people involved in the case will be arrested. This case not only exposes the horrific truth of human trafficking, but also shows that a mother’s struggle and faith in justice ultimately paid off.
