Pakistan: Unknown assailants fired on youth returning from picnic in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 7 killed

 

A group of friends returning from a picnic in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province ambushed him by unknown gunmen, killing at least seven people and injuring another person. The police gave this information on Sunday (August 17, 2025).

Those involved in the incident were attacked in the suburban area of Kohat district, about 65 km southwest of Peshawar on Saturday (August 16, 2025). Police said that they were returning to their native village Khara Ghari Muhammad Oats from Tanda Dam, when the attackers started firing.

There is no evidence of terrorism in preliminary investigation

District Police Officer of Kohat Zahidullah Khan said that investigation is being done. He said that no evidence of terrorism has been found in preliminary investigation. He told the media, ‘The incident took place around 12:45 pm. Some family disputes are being investigated, but it is too early to draw any conclusions, ‘

With the help of police troops, rescue officials took the dead bodies and the injured to Kohat district headquarters hospital. The injured person was later referred to a hospital in Peshawar for special treatment. The police confirmed that they were all friends.
