Kyiv/Moscow, Sept 7, 2025 – Ukraine’s capital Kyiv was rocked by one of the largest Russian air assaults since the beginning of the war, with dozens of drones and missiles raining down overnight into Sunday morning. According to the Ukrainian Air Force, Russia launched at least 805 drones and 13 missiles, creating scenes of destruction and panic across the city.
Officials confirmed that at least four people were killed and dozens injured in the strikes. Among the hardest hit was the Cabinet of Ministers’ main government building, which sustained serious damage as fires erupted in surrounding high-rise structures. Emergency services battled through the night to extinguish flames while helicopters hovered over Kyiv, dropping water in a desperate effort to contain the devastation.
🔥 Ukraine’s Counterattack: Russian Oil Pipeline Targeted
In retaliation, Ukrainian forces struck deep inside Russia, targeting the Druzhba Oil Pipeline in the Bryansk region. Ukraine’s Drone Forces Commander Robert Browddy confirmed the strike, which caused significant damage to one of Russia’s key energy lifelines.
This comes after a wave of Russian attacks prompted nationwide air raid sirens at 6:06 a.m., urging citizens to seek shelter. Kyiv residents reported hours of explosions and chaos, with many areas plunged into fear as buildings burned and infrastructure collapsed.

📍 Casualties Beyond Kyiv
Russia’s assault was not limited to the capital:
-
Dnipropetrovsk (Drypatros): A 54-year-old man was killed, with several injured.
-
Sumy region (Putiville outskirts): One person died, and among the injured was a 9-year-old child.
-
Zaporizhzhia: At least 15 wounded in drone strikes; four hospitalized after residential buildings were hit.
Images shared on social media revealed shattered apartments, burning vehicles, and debris-filled streets, underscoring the intensity of the Russian strikes.
🌍 Setback to Peace Efforts
The escalation comes at a time when 24 nations, led by France and Britain, are considering an international monitoring force to stabilize Ukraine. Kyiv insists such agreements would only be credible if Western troops are deployed on the ground.
However, Russian President Vladimir Putin warned that the presence of Western soldiers in Ukraine would make them “legitimate targets.” Meanwhile, efforts by U.S. President Donald Trump to revive peace talks have made little progress, leaving the conflict at a dangerous deadlock.
✅ In summary: Russia’s latest attack on Kyiv—with its massive missile and drone barrage—marks one of the deadliest escalations of the war. Ukraine’s strike on Russia’s vital Druzhba pipeline signals that the conflict is intensifying, threatening both regional security and fragile global peace efforts.
