Before Russian President Putin’s visit to India, Foreign Minister S Jaishankar reached Moscow. Here he met Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and discussed bilateral partnership between the two countries. He also reviewed the preparations for the 23rd annual India-Russia summit.

In a post on X, he said, it was a pleasure to meet Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Moscow. Our bilateral partnership including trade and investment, energy, mobility, agriculture, technology, culture and people-to-people exchanges were discussed.

In fact, India and Russia are considering strengthening several agreements, initiatives and projects to further strengthen relations during Russian President Putin’s visit to New Delhi next month. As part of preparations for the visit, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar held extensive talks with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov in Moscow on Monday. Jaishankar, in his opening speech at the meeting, said that this special occasion is even more important for me as we are preparing for President Putin’s visit to India for the 23rd annual summit.

He said that many bilateral agreements, initiatives and projects are being discussed in various fields. We hope to finalize these in the coming days. Jaishankar said that this will definitely give more strength and shape to our special and privileged strategic partnership.

Support efforts to end the Russia-Ukraine conflict

Jaishankar also said that India supports recent efforts to end the Russia-Ukraine conflict. He said that India supports the recent efforts towards establishing peace. We hope that all parties will move forward constructively towards this goal.

Putin expected to visit India in December

The Foreign Minister is currently in Moscow for talks with his Russian counterpart Lavrov. His visit is also being considered a part of the preparations for Putin’s visit. The Russian President is expected to visit India around December 5 for the annual summit with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The summit is expected to yield important results to further strengthen bilateral strategic relations. So far, 22 annual summit meetings have been held alternately between India and Russia.
