Looks like the Android vs iPhone debate just got another interesting twist! This time, it is not about who has a better OS or features, but it is about security. A new report by Google itself suggests that the iPhone 17 may actually be more prone to mobile scams and fraud than some of its Android rivals, including Google’s Pixel 10 Pro, Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7, and Motorola’s Razr+ 2025! A study by Leviathan Security Group evaluated 33 security features across four popular flagships – the Pixel 10 Pro, Galaxy Z Fold 7, iPhone 17 Pro, and Razr+ 2025. The goal was to see how well each phone protected users from scams, phishing, and fraud attempts.

Which Are The Safest Phones Against Mobile Scams?
The Pixel 10 Pro topped the list with 31 points, followed closely by the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Razr+ 2025, which scored 29 points each. The iPhone 17 Pro, meanwhile, lagged behind with 23.25 points.
According to the researchers, Google’s call screening, scam detection, and real-time fraud warnings helped Android phones deliver a stronger line of defense against scam calls and messages – something Apple’s current system still seems to be catching up on.
Google also shared insights into how AI is quietly powering much of this protection. For instance, Google Messages filters spam texts by analyzing the sender’s reputation and message content. The native Phone app, on the other hand, uses on-device AI to automatically block known spam numbers before they even ring.
Should iPhone Users Need To Worry?
To be clear, iPhones are still considered secure overall, especially when it comes to privacy and app permissions. But this study sheds light on a different kind of security – everyday scam protection. With mobile fraud on the rise globally, Android’s proactive, AI-driven approach may be giving it an edge that Apple will need to match soon.
So, while the iPhone 17 might win hearts with its design and performance, it seems Android phones are doing a better job of keeping unwanted calls and scams at bay.
