On Wednesday, India brought back 125 of its citizens from Thailand through a special IAF aircraft after they were released from the scam center in Myawaddy, Myanmar. In this way, a total of 1,500 Indian citizens released from scam centers in the last 9 months since March have been brought back through Thailand. These people went there in search of a job and got trapped in the trap of recruiting agents.

The embassy also shared some photos of Indians brought back from Thai border town Mae Sot on Wednesday. The embassy further said in its post, “As part of the Government of India’s efforts to bring back Indians stranded in scam centers in South-East Asia, the Indian Embassy in Thailand and the Indian Consulate in Chiang Mai worked closely with various agencies of the Royal Thai Government and Tak Province, Thailand, to facilitate the repatriation of these Indian nationals.”
Today, 125 Indian nationals, released from scam-centres in Myawaddy in Myanmar, were repatriated from Mae Sot in Thailand by a special flight operated by the Indian Air Force.

The embassy has also warned that Indian citizens are advised to verify the credentials of foreign employers and also check the past records of recruiting agents and companies before accepting job offers abroad.
Advice to avoid misuse of visa-free
Additionally, visa-free entry into Thailand for Indian passport holders is only for tourism and small business, and should not be misused to take up any kind of job in Thailand.
Earlier on November 6, India had brought back 270 of its citizens from Thailand through 2 military transport aircraft. These people were associated with an infamous scam center in Myanmar and when action was taken here, people fled to Mae Sot in Thailand.
At the end of last month, 1,500 people from 28 countries fled to Thailand, including about 500 Indian citizens, after the raid on the cybercrime hub of KK Park in Myawaddy city of Myanmar.
