After dominating Pakistan on the cricket field, India has once again outclassed its arch-rival — this time in football. In the SAFF Under-17 Championship match held in Colombo on Monday (September 22, 2025), India’s U-17 team defeated Pakistan 3-2 in a thrilling encounter to top Group B and secure a place in the semi-finals.
India’s victory came through goals from Dallamuan Gangte, Gunleeba Wangkerakipam, and Rahhan Ahmed, while Pakistan fought back with strikes from Mohammad Abdullah and Hamza Yasir.
The match turned intense when Abdullah equalized for Pakistan in the 43rd minute through a penalty and celebrated by sitting in the corner, pretending to sip tea. The gesture quickly went viral on social media, with many fans calling it a provocative move aimed at Indian players.
However, India responded on the field rather than off it. In the second half, Wangkerakipam put India ahead in the 63rd minute, only for Yasir to bring Pakistan level again in the 70th minute. Just three minutes later, Rahhan Ahmed sealed the match for India with a decisive goal in the 73rd minute, ensuring a memorable 3-2 victory.
With this win, India continues its dominance over Pakistan across sports, igniting new conversations among fans about the growing intensity of Indo-Pak rivalries beyond cricket.
