According to this list, Hindus in Bangladesh will not get any holiday for Saraswati Puja, Buddha Purnima, Janmashtami, Mahalaya. There is no holiday even on May Day.

Along with this, there is no holiday for Language Martyr’s Day anywhere in the list of official holidays. From this bangladesh Controversy has arisen. In the guidelines issued by the interim government, it has been said that all the schools in the country will remain open during these days. Due to which some people have accused each other of hurting religious sentiments. Of course, holidays are given during Ramadan and Eid-ul-Fitr, but the number of days has reduced compared to earlier.

Attempt to erase the history of language movement

Some people have alleged that this time the Yunus government is trying to erase the language movement from the history of Bangladesh. In the last one and a half years, Yunus’s interim government has taken many decisions which have impacted the history of Bangladesh. Many aspects of the Liberation War have been erased. Bangabandhu has also disappeared from Bangladesh. This time, ‘Target’ Language Day has been done.

However, people close to the Yunus government claim that this year 21st February is Saturday. Friday and Saturday are already weekly holidays in Bangladesh. Therefore, Language Day was not mentioned separately in the government notification.

In 2025, 21 February is Friday, a weekly government holiday in Bangladesh, but even then the government holiday notification mentioned that day as Language Day holiday.

Questions raised on the decision of Yunus government

Educationist Pavitra Sarkar was asked about this. He said, ‘They are stupid and illiterate. Bengali language got international recognition on 21 February. The history of this language is linked to many languages ​​of the world. They have gone mad.

Coincidentally, on February 21, 1952, students of what was then East Pakistan, now independent Bangladesh, started a movement demanding Bengali be made the state language. Pakistani police opened fire to suppress the movement. As a result, Barkat, Salam, Rafiq and Jabbar were killed. According to many people, this language movement was the catalyst for the independence movement of Bangladesh.
