A heartbreaking road accident shook Sidhi district on Thursday night, overshadowing preparations for Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav’s scheduled visit. The incident occurred on the Sidhi-Singrauli National Highway when a Bolero collided with a stationary truck loaded with tents, killing three people instantly and leaving three others critically injured. The site of the accident was directly outside the Chief Minister’s program venue, spreading panic and grief across the area.
Collision on Busy Highway
According to eyewitnesses, the accident happened around 7:30 pm while workers were busy preparing for the Chief Minister’s event. A Bolero carrying six passengers rammed at high speed into the rear of a parked truck. The impact was so violent that the front portion of the SUV was completely crushed and wedged into the truck. Rescue operations had to be carried out using a JCB machine to extricate the trapped vehicle.
Locals immediately alerted the police and emergency services, while chaos and cries of distress filled the venue. Eyewitnesses described the scene as “devastating,” with people running in panic amidst the preparations for the CM’s program.
BJP Leader’s Family Devastated
The tragedy struck a deep blow to the family of Mayapur BJP Mandal President, Shivkumari Jaiswal, who lost three close family members in the accident. The deceased have been identified as Dharmendra (24 years), Geeta alias Aditya (55 years), and Shoaib (18 years), who was working with the tent team. The victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
The injured, Ajay Jaiswal (26 years), Prince Jaiswal (30 years), and Balakrishna Prajapati (30 years), were rushed to Sanjay Gandhi Medical College in Rewa. Doctors have confirmed that their condition remains extremely critical and are under continuous observation.
“This accident has left the family shattered and the community in grief,” said a local party worker, reflecting the shock that has engulfed the district.
Vehicle Details and Investigation
Preliminary police investigations revealed that the Bolero was registered under Jagdish Jaiswal, a resident of Jethu village. At the time of the accident, his son Prince was driving. It appears that acquaintances and relatives had joined the ride, leading to a total of six passengers in the vehicle.
Authorities are investigating whether overspeeding or poor visibility contributed to the collision. Police have also noted that the truck was parked near the venue with heavy tenting materials, making it a potential hazard in the poorly lit area.
CM Cancels Visit, Expresses Grief
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, who was scheduled to inaugurate the newly constructed bridge over the Son River in Bahri tehsil on Friday, immediately canceled his program upon hearing about the tragedy. The bridge was expected to improve connectivity between Sidhi and Singrauli districts, and preparations had been underway for days.
In an emotional message posted on X (formerly Twitter), the CM expressed his condolences: “The road accident in Sidhi is extremely tragic. My prayers are with the departed souls, and I have directed the administration to ensure best possible treatment for the injured and extend full support to the bereaved families.”
Hospital Struggles to Save Lives
According to Dr. Y.S. Baghel, CMO of Sanjay Gandhi Medical College, Rewa, the injured are receiving intensive care. “All three are battling for their lives. Our team of specialists is doing everything possible,” he said. The hospital administration has assured that advanced medical resources are being mobilized to maximize chances of survival.
Wave of Mourning Across District
The accident has triggered widespread sorrow across Sidhi. Local MLA Vishwamitra Pathak urged postponement of the CM’s program, calling it inappropriate to proceed when a senior party official’s family had endured such a devastating loss.
The BJP cadre and residents of the district have united in grief, with many gathering outside the hospital and the family’s residence to offer support. The sudden deaths of three young lives have left the community reeling, transforming what was supposed to be a day of celebration into one of mourning.
