Pakistan is selling JF-17 by lying
Pakistan has claimed that Bangladesh has shown interest in purchasing fighter aircraft JF-17 from it. Pakistan, which was defeated in Operation Sindoor, is selling this light fighter jet by lying. Its army claimed from Bangladesh that this single-engine light fighter jet had proved its capability during the confrontation with India in May.
Pakistan is telling one more lie to the world. Its Defense Minister Khawaja Asif claimed that after Operation Sindoor, defense orders with Pakistan have increased so much that Pakistan may soon stop taking loans from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
JF-17 was shot down in Operation Sindoor
The limitations of JF-17 were clearly revealed to the Indian Air Force during Operation Sindoor. India had shot down many F-16 and JF-17 aircraft of Pakistan. In that operation, Pakistan Air Force was seen biting the dust in front of India’s air dominance, better radar network and modern fighter platforms.
Features of JF-17 aircraft…
JF-17C Block III is an advanced version of the JF-17 Thunder aircraft, jointly developed by China’s Chengdu Aircraft Corporation and Pakistan Aeronautical Complex. The JF-17 is a 4.5-generation, single-engine, multi-role fighter aircraft equipped with modern avionics, active electronically scanned array radar and advanced weapons.
It is designed for all-weather operations and is capable of both air-to-air and air-to-ground combat. Apart from Chinese components, this aircraft is also equipped with Turkish weapon systems.
The plane has been sold to Azerbaijan
Pakistan has earlier sold JF-17C Block III fighter aircraft to Azerbaijan. On September 25, 2024, Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev received the first batch of JF-17C Block III fighter aircraft from Pakistan during a defense exhibition at Heydar Aliyev International Airport in Baku. The next day, the Pakistani Army confirmed the sale of JF-17C to Azerbaijan as part of its defense cooperation.
According to Dawn report, Pakistan has signed a contract worth $1.6 billion to sell JF-17 aircraft to Azerbaijan.
Pakistan has sold these countries also
Pakistan has also sold these fighter aircraft to Myanmar, Nigeria and Libya. In 2015, Pakistan had signed a deal to sell JF-17 fighter jets to Myanmar. Under this, 11 JF-17 aircraft were supplied to Myanmar between 2018 and 2021.
Nigeria became the second customer of JF-17 in 2016 by ordering three units. Since joining the Air Force in 2021, this aircraft has been deployed in anti-terrorism and counter-insurgency operations.
Last month, Islamabad signed an arms deal worth more than $4 billion with the Libyan National Army in eastern Libya, one of the country’s largest arms sales ever. This includes JF-17 fighter jet and training aircraft.
Ongoing talks with Saudi Arabia
According to news agency Reuters, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are in talks to convert Saudi loan of about $2 billion into JF-17 fighter jet deal. This will deepen military cooperation, months after the mutual defense agreement was signed between the two countries last year.
The source said that the talks were limited to providing JF-17 Thunder fighter jets, which are jointly developed by Pakistan and China, while another said that these jets were the main option among the other options included in the talks. Retired air marshal and analyst Aamir Masood told Reuters that Pakistan is in talks or has finalized deals with six countries to supply equipment including JF-17 and electronic systems and weapon systems for the jet. He said that Saudi Arabia is also included in these countries, but he could not confirm any details about the talks.
JF-17 is failing
Pakistan may be selling JF-17 aircraft by selling lies, but it is completely failing on the ground. Many reports have claimed problems with the JF-17’s engine, radar system and structural integrity. The accuracy of the weapons hitting the target is also a matter of debate. On 27 February 2019, during the tension with India, the JF-17 aircraft of Pakistan Air Force had failed.
Last year in the month of June, a JF-17 fighter jet of Myanmar Air Force fell from the sky into a ball of fire and fell on the ground. Myanmar’s rebel group People’s Liberation Army had claimed that they had shot down this fighter jet.
