Live video of firing in Iran

Mahmoud Haqiqat, commander of a police station in Iranshahr, Iran, was shot dead. Live video of the firing has also surfaced. In this video, it is seen how bullets are being fired at his white car moving on the road in broad daylight. They drive the car at high speed but firing is being done continuously. This video is becoming increasingly viral on social media.

Mahmood was the former head of Haqiqat city intelligence and was responsible for the crackdown on anti-government Baloch in the city. He had taken action against Baloch. After the attack on them, a terrorist organization has taken responsibility for this attack. Baloch separatist organization Jaish al-Adl has taken responsibility for this attack.

Jaish al-Adl took responsibility for the attack

According to the statement of the Information Center of the Police Directorate of Sistan-Baluchistan Province, this province is an economically backward, Sunni and Baluch dominated area. The officer was murdered by unidentified armed persons in the morning. News agencies reported that members of the Sunni militant group Jaish al-Adl opened fire on his vehicle. No further information regarding the murder has been revealed yet. However, the Popular Resistance Front (which includes Jaish al-Adl and other Baloch para-military groups) later claimed responsibility for the attack on its social media accounts.

What is Jaish al-Adl?

Jaish al-Adl is an anti-Shia Islamic fundamentalist armed group that has carried out several terrorist attacks on Iranian security forces since 2014. In 2023 alone, at least 22 Iranian personnel were killed in these attacks.

It is a Sunni armed group based in Sistan-Baluchistan province of Iran. This group was established in 2002 or 2003. The group’s stated purpose is to seek recognition of the cultural, economic and political rights of the Balochis from the Iranian government and to spread awareness of the situation of the Baloch people.

Targets Iranian security personnel

JAA primarily targets Iranian security personnel, but has historically also attacked government officials and Shia civilians. Its attacks include ambush, assassination, attack, hit-and-run, kidnapping and suicide bombing.

However, now the killing of Mahmood Haqiqat is a serious indication of the rising wave of violence and security challenges of Baloch separatists in the region. Security experts believe that such attacks not only pose a threat to local administration and intelligence, but also increase political and social tension in Iran.
