Why the world started blazing as soon as the new year started…the story from Iran, Bangladesh to Venezuela

2025 has said goodbye and 2026 has knocked, but the world has not got any peace. It would not be wrong if 2025 is called the year of war. Many countries kept burning in the fire one after the other. The regret is that even the new year did not bring peace. The year 2026 has started with tension, violence and conflict.

At some places anger is boiling on the streets against the governments, at other places the situation has gone out of control even before the elections. From the Middle East to South Asia and Latin America, the situation seems to be deteriorating rapidly. The rebellion against power in Iran, election violence in Bangladesh, the unstoppable civil war in Yemen, the fierce war between Russia and Ukraine and the American attacks on Venezuela, all have made it clear that the beginning of 2026 has brought restlessness and uncertainty for the world.

US attack on Venezuela and claim of capturing Maduro

Just three days have passed since 2026 started, meanwhile America launched a major attack on Venezuela. On Saturday, the US carried out 7 air strikes on Venezuela’s capital Caracas and four cities including Miranda, Aragua and La Guaira. This has been confirmed by US President Donald Trump himself. In the viral video, helicopters were seen flying at low altitude. After the attacks, there was power failure in many areas. President Nicolas Maduro declared a nationwide emergency, saying that the US is trying to stage a coup so that Venezuela’s oil and mineral resources can be captured. Meanwhile, Trump has claimed that after the attack, Nicolas Maduro and his wife have been arrested and taken out of the country.

Uprising on the streets in Iran, slogans against the government

Protests in Iran against inflation and supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei continue for the seventh consecutive day. So far 8 people have died. The situation is so tense that even at the funeral of the slain protesters, people are openly raising slogans of ‘Death to Khamenei’. Demonstrations are no longer limited to Tehran only. These have spread to the holy city of Qom, which is considered the stronghold of Shia religious leaders. According to the report of Iran International, despite heavy security, the protesters raised slogans in support of the monarchy. The news of the overthrow of the Islamic regime is also now in discussion.

Violence before elections in Bangladesh, minorities targeted

General elections are to be held in Bangladesh on 12 February 2026, but even before that the country is in the grip of violence. The crisis began with the death of student leader Osman Hadi in December 2025. After this the period of arson, vandalism and violence started. The most worrying situation is regarding minority Hindus. Khokan Chandra Das, a 50-year-old Hindu businessman who was injured in the recent attack, died in hospital. Before this, Dipu Das, Amrit Mandal and Bijendra Biswas had also been murdered. So far, four Hindus have lost their lives, due to which there is an atmosphere of fear in the entire Hindu community.

Yemen again under tension

Yemen’s civil war has been going on continuously since 2014. The same year, Houthi rebels captured the capital Sanaa. After this, in 2015, a military coalition was formed under the leadership of Saudi Arabia, which included many Gulf countries, to remove the Houthis from power. Initially this fight was between the Saudi-backed government and the Iran-backed Houthis, but now Yemen seems to be in the grip of a new and dangerous tension.

Now in this war the mutual conflict between the Gulf countries has come to the fore. The situation worsened when the Saudi Arabian army carried out an airstrike. Saudi claimed that this attack was carried out on a consignment of weapons which was being sent to Yemen’s separatist group Southern Transitional Council (STC). This group is supported by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and controls many areas of southern Yemen. The biggest loss of the recent tension is once again being borne by the common people of Yemen, who are already struggling with war, hunger and humanitarian crisis.

Russia-Ukraine war becomes more dangerous

The war between Russia and Ukraine will complete four years in 2026. All efforts for peace talks have failed. This war has become even more intense at the beginning of the new year. Tension has increased further after claims of attack on Putin’s house. Moscow says that Ukraine is now directly targeting the capital and important targets. Now it remains to be seen to what extent the efforts to end the war under the leadership of the American President bear fruit.
