Nicolas Maduro, Jinping, Khamenei and Putin
US President Donald Trump has finally taken a big step against Venezuela. The serial blasts that took place in the capital Caracas on Saturday shook the entire country. There were warnings of American attack for the past several months and now the situation seems to be moving towards open conflict.
At least seven loud explosions were heard in Caracas early Saturday morning. According to Reuters, loud sounds echoed in different areas of the city. There was a power outage in southern Caracas, where a large military base is located. After these incidents, emergency has been imposed in Venezuela and the biggest question is that if America uses its full force, then who will come forward to save Venezuela?
Arrests became the reason for the conflict
Before these blasts, Venezuela had arrested five American citizens. After this, Washington had indicated strict action. In recent weeks, the US has made a heavy military deployment to the Caribbean region, including nuclear powered submarines, spy planes and about 15,000 soldiers. America attacked many boats on the charges of drug smuggling, in which more than 80 people died. Apart from this, an oil tanker was also seized near the Venezuelan coast.
Russia’s old friend, but limited help
Relations between Russia and Venezuela have been strong for a long time. Russia has provided economic, political and diplomatic support to Venezuela. He has been helping to avoid sanctions, providing military equipment and raising his voice in international forums in favor of the Maduro government. But at present the situation has changed. Russia is embroiled in the Ukraine war and is struggling with Western sanctions. Experts believe that at such a time Russia will not take any major military risk for Venezuela. Maduro asked for help in October, but so far support has been limited to statements and phone calls.
What will China support Maduro?
China is opposing America’s action, but is avoiding taking direct action. Venezuela is important to China, especially because of oil, but Beijing does not want a direct confrontation with the US. According to experts, if the situation worsens, China will definitely raise the issue of Venezuela at the United Nations and global forums, but the possibility of military help is very less.
Colombia openly with Maduro
In this crisis, Colombia has come out in support of Venezuela. The Colombian President has alleged that America is attacking with missiles. Colombia has announced that it will demand an emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council. At present, Colombia is a temporary member of the UNSC, due to which its voice is considered important on the international stage.
What will Iran and Cuba support?
Relations between Iran and Venezuela have been ideological and symbolic. But at this time Iran itself is in serious crisis. There are protests across the country, movements against inflation and unemployment, and discussions of regime change. In such a situation, there is a question on how much Iran will be able to help Venezuela beyond its statements. At the same time, Cuba is largely dependent on Venezuela and its influence on the intelligence and military system of the Maduro government is also considered. Ideological ties are deep, but Cuba’s economic condition may prevent it from jumping into a major conflict.
