After the Gen-Z protest two months ago, the anger of the youth has again erupted in Nepal. The situation worsened once again in Simra area of ​​Bara district. There was a clash between Gen-Z youth and CPN-UML party workers on Wednesday. After this tension, Gen-Z youth again took to the streets on Thursday. To control the situation, the district administration has ordered to impose curfew from 12:45 pm to 8 pm.

On Thursday at 11 am many youth gathered at Simra Chowk. When the crowd increased, the police used force to remove them. Tear gas shells were also released. After this, curfew was imposed to prevent the situation from worsening further. The Gen-Z youth said that the police did not arrest all the UML workers against whom they had filed a complaint in Wednesday’s clash.

Police arrested 2 accused

Following this allegation, the police have arrested two people. These include Dhan Bahadur Shrestha, Chairman of Ward 2 of Jeetpur Simra Sub-Metropolitan City and Kaimuddin Ansari, Chairman of Ward 6. Six Gen-Z supporters were injured in Wednesday’s clash. After this incident, Gen-Z group had given a complaint against 6 workers of UML.

Gen-Z district convenor Samrat Upadhyay said that due to some accused not being arrested, they came out to protest again. On Wednesday the tension increased so much that the police had to use tear gas shells. Due to this Simra Airport had to stop its flights.

Security forces have been deployed at major intersections and sensitive areas of Bara district. The administration is constantly monitoring the situation, as political tension and intermittent clashes are increasing in the district.
