Death sentence to Sheikh Hasina

The International Court of Bangladesh has convicted Sheikh Hasina and sentenced her to death. The court has sentenced Sheikh Hasina and her two top aides, former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal and former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chaudhry Abdullah Al-Mamun, to death. The court has held Hasina guilty of the July rebellion last year. There is an allegation of firing on unarmed civilians in the July rebellion against Sheikh Hasina. The court has given a 453-page verdict on Hasina in 6 parts. The court said, Haseena’s crimes are against humanity.

Pleaded guilty of multiple crimes

It has been said in this decision that Hasina was moving towards becoming a dictator from January 2024 onwards. He crushed the opposition in the January 2024 elections. After this, when the students came out on the streets, bullets were fired at them. The court has found Hasina guilty of many crimes and has given this big verdict.

Will Sheikh Hasina be arrested?

Now the question arises that if Sheikh Hasina has been found guilty, what will happen next? Actually, Sheikh Hasina has been in India since the coup in the country. Due to this, India will now play an important role in this matter. The government will issue an arrest warrant through Interpol to arrest Sheikh Hasina.

Arrest warrant through Interpol

Now the government will issue an arrest warrant through Interpol to arrest Sheikh Hasina. Interpol i.e. International Criminal Police Organization is the world’s largest international police organization. It helps fight international crimes by connecting the police of 194 member countries. Interpol helps the police of countries to work with each other, whether those countries have formal diplomatic relations or not.

The government will take the help of Interpol to arrest Sheikh Hasina and Interpol will issue its international notice (like Red Notice) against Sheikh Hasina. The Bangladesh government will send a request to Interpol to issue a Red Corner Notice (like an international arrest warrant) against Sheikh Hasina.

Information will be given to India

Currently Sheikh Hasina is in India. Therefore, Bangladesh will officially tell India that the Interpol notice has been issued and will seek their cooperation. So that Hasina is arrested and handed over to Bangladesh.

India will play an important role

Now at this juncture India will play an important role in this matter. If after being informed about the warrant by the Bangladesh government, India said that it will not arrest Hasina or hand her over to Bangladesh, then Bangladesh can take the matter to the United Nations (UN). There they can try to create international pressure on India.
