The amount of the lawsuit can range from one (Rs 8,854 crore) to five billion dollars (Rs 41,770 crore). They cheated, changed my words. We have to do this.

Actually, BBC had shown Trump’s speech of January 6, 2021 in a documentary named Panorama. On the same day, Trump supporters attacked the US Parliament (US Capitol). The BBC combined two parts of that speech, making it appear as if Trump was inciting people to march towards the Capitol and fight. But that part was removed from the video, in which Trump had said that the demonstration should be peaceful. This documentary was released in October 2024.
Resignation of BBC Director and Head of News
After this matter came to light, two senior BBC officials resigned. These include Director General Tim Davie and Head of News Deborah Turness. BBC’s Indian-origin chairman Sameer Shah also apologized, calling it a wrong decision.
The BBC admitted that their editing gave the message that Trump directly called for violence. He said that this documentary will not be telecast again. However, BBC has refused to give any kind of financial compensation.
