A new case has come to light amidst the ongoing war and peace talks in Gaza Strip. According to a report, America is planning to divide Gaza into two parts. A green zone and a red zone. According to US military documents, the Green Zone will be under the control of Israel and International Forces. The reconstruction of Gaza will start from here. On the other hand, the Red Zone will be left in the same state of destruction.

Almost all Palestinians have been displaced in the Red Zone. That means more than 2 million people are gathered in the Red Zone, which is a strip along the coast and covers less than half the area of ​​Gaza. About 1.5 million Palestinians are forced to live in emergency shelters and tents. Here they are not even able to get essential facilities like clean water.

Division will be done on the basis of yellow line

This distribution will be based on the same yellow line. This is the same border to which the Israeli army had to retreat under the ceasefire. People fear that this line may become the new border of Gaza in future. Rebuilding Gaza could cost around $70 billion. Rich Arab countries like Saudi Arabia, Qatar and UAE can give this money.

The US has also proposed that an International Stabilization Force (ISF) be deployed in Gaza and it should be approved by the United Nations. However, this proposal has been strongly opposed by Russia, China and some Arab countries. These countries especially have a problem with America’s plan in which a new Board of Peace is to be created. This board will take over the temporary governance of Gaza. Russia and China want this board to be completely removed from the proposal.

The report says that initially foreign troops will be deployed in the eastern part of Gaza along with the Israeli army. With this, Gaza will be divided into two parts and the Yellow Line will become a kind of dividing line. Although Israel has retreated to some extent, it still controls more than 53% of Gaza. For this reason, the entire homeless population of Gaza is forced to live in less than half the area.

What is the concern of European countries?

European countries have also expressed concern that if the situation remains like this, then this Yellow Line will forever divide Gaza into two parts and will remove the Palestinians from a large part of the Gaza Strip. 80% of Gaza’s houses have been destroyed in the two-year war. Therefore, the reconstruction of Gaza has become a huge responsibility for America, Qatar, Egypt and other countries. These countries had helped in establishing the ceasefire.

Qatar and Egypt have also asked what will be the path to making Palestine an independent country and when will Israel completely withdraw from Gaza. On the other hand, the US draft says that if the reforms in the Palestinian Authority are completed properly and the reconstruction of Gaza moves forward, then the way can be opened for the Palestinians to become an independent country. The draft also says that America will start negotiations between Israel and Palestine, so that both can live in peace.
