The Russian Embassy in Pakistan has launched a scathing attack on the English newspaper The Frontier Post. The embassy has accused the newspaper of publishing “anti-Russian articles” and spreading “Western propaganda” against Moscow. The Russian Embassy targeted the newspaper in a strong statement released on the social media handle X. The embassy said the newspaper’s stance has now become openly anti-Russian.
The embassy also questioned the Pakistani identity of the newspaper and alleged that it deliberately publishes articles that are written by staunch anti-Russian writers. The embassy said, we have taken note of anti-Russian articles published in the English-language Pakistani newspaper The Frontier Post. First of all, we would like to point out that it is difficult to call this newspaper ‘Pakistani’ because its global news department is based in Washington.
Accused of western propaganda
The statement alleged that the newspaper’s editorial board consistently selects articles that criticize Russia’s foreign policy and leadership, leaving no room for balanced reporting. The embassy said, “In recent days, not a single article was found in the international section of the newspaper in which Russia was shown in a positive or neutral light.”
Despite expressing respect for the freedom of the press, the embassy said that the content of The Frontier Post has now taken the form of propaganda. “This continuous flood of anti-Russian articles, which repeat Western propaganda, forces one to think about whether the newspaper’s policy is really based on freedom of expression or on the political agenda of anti-Russian forces,” the statement said.

Embassy targeted the newspaper
The embassy also criticized the newspaper’s reporting and said that it did not publish the news of the Moscow Format Consultation on Afghanistan held on October 7, 2025 at all. The event was widely covered in the Pakistani media, but The Frontier Post completely ignored it.
“It is surprising that the newspaper, which devotes an entire section to news related to Afghanistan, completely ignored the Moscow Format Consultation,” the embassy said, calling it evidence of the “anti-Russian thinking of the Western-influenced editorial team.”
Till now, no official statement or response has been given by The Frontier Post on the post made by the Russian Embassy.
“Not economically weak”
Responding to the newspaper’s attempts to portray Russia as “economically weak” and “vulnerable to sanctions,” the embassy said such claims are baseless and represent “indiscriminate copying of Western media narratives.”
Presenting the figures, the embassy said that despite the sanctions, Russia’s economy remains strong. The statement said, “Despite facing such great external pressure – which no country in history has done – the Russian economy has shown steady progress. Russia’s GDP is expected to grow by 4.1 percent in 2024, while some sectors, such as manufacturing, will see growth of as much as 8.5 percent.”
Russia also presented its low unemployment rate of 2.5 percent and inflation rate of 6.57 percent projected for 2025 as indicators of economic stability.
